I updated to the 105 build and this has been fixed.
Now all I need to get working is SqueezCenter, but that's a bigger problem I
fear.

Well seeing as lot's of you have viewed this and none have commented, I'll tell
you that I scrapped the idea.
I'm now using a single 80GB drive for the root pool and a raidz array of three
complete 750GB disks.
This gives me a better chance of recovery in the case of a drive failure and a

Thanks, this information would be very helpful, I'll take a look with them.

OK, so Vista (fully patched) works without any problem.
I can see everything and I can add things even if there is nothing in the
folder, so these must be Mac bus.
This is a shame because I use Macs 99% of the time and only Windows when I have
too :(

Oh and I cannot add anything to the share until there is a file that resides on
the share.
In other words, I have to create a test file on the share server side and this
enables me to drag and drop files to the share on the Mac.
I'm going to check Vista and XP next...
Weird or what?

Thanks for the fast reply Gary!!
This partially works.
I can now drop files and create directories on the share but cannot see
anything.
An untitled folder created on the Mac shows up as the following:

Colin,
This seems to be happening to all new users of CIFS. Once you get though this,
it becomes much easier.

And there is a bug specifically with Macs and CIFS that was fixed (in 105?)
You can search for that too.

The nge driver did have a bug which caused it to read the
MAC address in reverse. It must be forced to the correct order.
I have no idea how to do that with DHCP but to set a static
configuration see my post

I am sharing out ZFS ISCSI luns to my Mac. When copying large files, the
network will hang in the middle of the transfer and the LUN will become
unavailable until I plumb the NIC. This issue appears to only occur only when I
am reading files (ie..syncing an ipod) and not writing (I'm not 100% su

Hi,
I am a new French user of OpenSolaris (used to be on FreeBSD and Linux before).
I want to "build" a file server (NAS) using ZFS and a 8 hard drives RAIDZ.
For now I have these hardware :

I've been trying for 18 hours straight to get this to work and I'm stumped :(
I have the shares created and they show up in my Mac client.
Problems:
1) Cannot list contents
2) Cannot add files
I've tried all manner of things from
chmod -R 777 /myshare
chown -R myuser /myshare
/usr/bin/chmod
Bring the virtual machine up in sigle user mode by typing e to edit in the grub
menu
kernel$ /platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -B $ZFS-BOOTFS -s
backup the /home/admin dir and remove it and recreated it
If you can reproduce this I, would submit a bugid.

I came across this problem myself. The GUI does not have a way to do this - you
need to use the command line:
VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename /path/to/file.vmdk
-rawdisk /dev/dsk/c4t0d0p1 -register
Where /path/to/file.vmdk is a new VM disk image file which will be created to
1. Run them under VirtualBox or Zones, but if you go with Solaris 10 as a
global running on the hardware, make sure you run the updatemanger or smpatch

supported w. VirtualBox (I'm running 2.1) then 2008.11, snv_104.
OK sorry wrong department .

I played around a bit with the BIOS settings for the IDE and got it running:
I used the following settings:
AHCI: enhanced
DVD-Rom on IDE1/master
but I had to attach an IDE-drive AND a S-ATA drive,
(IDE attached to IDE1/slave, S-ATA to S-ATA3)
even though I just wanted to use the IDE drive at first
