I installed zfs-fuse version 0.5, which is latest stable.
Then I ran /etc/init.d/zfs-fuse to run "zfs" daemon. Then I tried to run
"zfs create...", which apparently wiped out Solaris install.
After re-installing Solaris and booting back to Gentoo I tried
"zpool import -R /mnt/solaris /d

I think the "cadp" driver supports this controller.

You may want to pay attention to see how this solved. My 111b failed to boot
for about two weeks, then the 118 went bad the day before yesterday. The
problem is a kernel panic, I think.

As a follow up to my own message...
I decided to go ahead and reinstall. Once I saw that OpenSolaris ran fine from
the Live CD in my new VirtualBox, I figured there was a good chance that it
would run fine once reinstalled.

I'm having problems with live upgrade on x86. I'm currently running snv_116 and
I can't even get past the lucreate bit, never mind luupgrade.
The lucreate appears to succeed, and creates the new zfs filesystem and
lustatus looks good, but the grub menu never gets updated. I tried manuall
