Confirming referenced patch fixes issue under newer AIX
configuration and for newer version of 'openssl'. Probably
everything in-between and AIX 6.1 w/ XLC9 as well.
Patch format is not understood by AIX 'patch',

and configuring for 64bit using ./Configure aix64-cc --prefix=/usr/local.

I still got the same segmentation fault as B via RT did. So I started
trying to find out why. I modified the make file to add the -g debug
option
the exact problem is, but I've done this a number
of times myself.
