Hi all,
We have a openstack-ansible setup and have ceph installed for the
backend. However whenever we try and launch a new instance it fails to
launch and we get the following error:
2016-10-21 12:08:06.241 70661 INFO nova.virt.libvirt.driver

It seems like it may be an occurrence of this bug, as you look to be using
python venvs:

Hi Chris,
That bug suggests there has been a fix in 12.0.8. Hopefully 12.0.16
should have that fixed still with a bit of luck , unless the fix hasn't
been carried over.
I can see that the bug report says there is also a fix 12.0.9 and 12.0.11.
Do you know if there is a workaround we can try
Hi Grant/Chris,
Can you verify whether there is a symlink from inside the venv to the location
of the RBD python libs in the system packages? If there isn’t one then you
should be able to re-execute the os-nova-install.yml playbook as it gets
executed here:
https://github.com/openstack/opensta
From the traceback it looks like nova-compute is running out of a venv.
You need to activate the venv, most likely via: source
/openstack/venvs/nova-12.0.16/.venv/bin/activate then run: pip freeze. If you
don’t see the RBD stuff – then that is your issue. You might be able to fix
via: pip ins
Curtis,
I will be attending the summit. We have OpenContrail in production in multiple
data centers. I am happy to share our experiences with you and your team.
The OpenContrail User Group is also a good forum to get in touch in other
operators. This time I will be the host. So, it will be a bit
Thanks Kris,
I have run the commands as suggested and there is no rbd installed.
However when we try to manually install rbd with pip we get the
following error:
pip install rbd

Howdy operators,
In my free time, I am mentoring a group of CS students as they work on a UX
research class project. They've chosen to build on the work Piet and I did
a few months ago around information needs for operators (

Hi everyone,
Heat will have a session in Summit to discuss what can we do as a
team/community to help improve the maturity indicators ([1]) for heat?
I would like to invite guys from OPs Tags Team to join this session to help
