Well, not _totally_ ignoring me - I can shutdown / restart it just fine
using the service command... But any rug command like 'rug ping' or 'rug
sl' hangs... and remains that way.
zen-updater only displays 'Loading services / catalogs / preferences'
and 'Getting update list' messages.

Hello,
My google-fu seems to be weak today 'cause I can't find a good answer to
this problem.
I have a server program. [ start] starts the server,
[ stop] stops it. I want to make it run as a daemon on an
openSUSE 10.2 installation, so it will start / exit cleanly.
Bonus:
- running it as a

Hi,
I want to open a TCP port, but restrict access based on a list of source
IP addresses. Can this be accomplished by using the YaST Firewall
module? (I couldn't find anything for this). If not, what's the
recommended way of doing this in 10.2, so that the next time I use YaST
to open a port, my

Hi,
I am getting infrequent and seemingly random lock-ups on my openSUSE
10.2 - as in, nothing responds anymore (no ctrl+alt+backspace, nothing)
and the only solution is a computer reboot. How do I go about diagnosing
this problem? I am using KDE.
Thanks,
Sorin

I have two keyboard layouts enabled in the KDE keyboard tool and I want
to be able to switch between them by using some keyboard combination
(for example, CTRL+Shift). I've fiddled with Switching Options and the
xkb options but no matter what options I set, I can't switch via the
keyboard, only by

Hi,
I've been trying to get Beryl working with openSUSE 10.2 but I haven't
had much success. To set it up I basically followed
http://en.opensuse.org/Beryl - and I've tried both AIGLX and just plain
nVidia drivers.
Here's what happens:

I'm writing to ask about AIGLX support in openSUSE 10.1 and 10.2. According
to an older e-mail on opensuse-factory
(http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2006-08/msg00460.html), this is
not planned; however, the German wiki has a HOWTO for setting up AIGLX

It's been three times now that an update to some KDE packages has
changed the line
DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="all"
to
DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN="root"
in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager.
This makes the system display a prompt for the root password every
time I want to shutdown. I don't know exactl

This is what I get when trying to update a bunch of packages via
zen-updater. My KDE repo is a mirror of the openSUSE service and is
located at

I was wondering how many people tried upgrading their Suse 10.x to 10.2 RC1
since it came out (as opposed to doing a fresh install). I'm thinking of
doing the same but after botching the upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1 I'm a little
circumspect.
Anyone got success / horror stories they want to share?

I tried to update the mozilla-xulrunner181 package via ZMD and it failed
('invalid package'). So I downloaded the RPM from my mirror and tried to
do it by hand:

Hi,
After running with SUSE 10.1 for a while I've decided it's time to
upgrade to openSUSE 10.2. What I'd like to do is a fresh 10.2 install
while keeping all my /home files (they are on a separate partition). But
I can't seem to get the installer to leave that partition alone. My

In my 10.1 days I got used to working with ZMD, which had more than
its share of problems, but also was able to tell me when new versions
of installed packages became available in the repositories.
I decided to drop ZMD in favor of zypper in 10.2, and either I am
doing something wrong or it can't
