Hello!
I read a lot about kernel updates in this list, but I still have the
following (understanding?) problem:
When I install a new kernel from on of the repositories
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/Vanilla/openSUSE_10.3/

Not only grub but also lilo is being effected, that is if you are using

Hi,

Hello
I know that this is a topic that gets endless questions. Perhaps because
a mistake can be so problematic. Here goes mine:
I am running an openSUSE 10.0 system with kernel 2.6.13-15.16-default.
This is a rather recent security-fixed kernel. But still the 2.6.13 that
came with 10.0.

My Fedora system does not remove old kernels when a kernel update is

On our RHEL production systems we download the kernel
and then install them via 'rpm -i '
Then it leaves both kernels bootable via grub.

Why are previous kernels deleted from the system when doing a kernel update?
I know of no other distro that has that behavior. I'd think you'd want to
have the old kernel available in case the update bombs or doesnt work
properly.

Hi guys,
I haven't had to do this in ages, and with Mantel gone, I'm not sure
where to find "official unofficial" kernels for SUSE.
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/i386/HEAD has only the
kernel package, no kernel-source package (which I will need for ATi
drivers and the like).
