There was a bug in the recently added SAN code that assumed SANs on
certificates were unique. I’ve removed that assumption, I’m retesting it now
[1], but I think it will succeed.

That was in fact the problem: I was checking for specific client
certificate attributes. I'm now accepting all certificates and
deferring those checks to EXTERNAL SASL authentication.
