Nepenthes rajah as a canary! LOL. I would think there are other plants that are cheaper and less rare you could use. However, any excuse to grow a N. rajah will do I suppose. I'd want another indicator plant myself. Perhaps a Disa? ;-)

Iris my apologies for the slowness in response to your queries about my
health. Things have been going fast around me (including an approaching Show
with all the planning that it entails ).
Last July I left for Mayo Clinic , Rochester Minnesota. My health was in
shambles to the point

N. rajah isn't exactly one of the easiest neps to grow, being an extreme
highlander. The hard leaves also do not indicate the watering level and when
they start turning black it is goodbye for ever. Furthermore, n. rajah is
CITES I and should only be sold with the relevant documents. If
I will be out of the office starting 2005/09/06 and will not return until
2005/09/10.
Any urgent business queries should be forwarded to the Maryanne Donachie at
the National A&A department, Ernst and Young, Johannesburg. (+27-11-772
3000). All other queries will be attended to on my return.
