adjusting watering amounts according to the season. I water in the
morning before midday so that the leaves are dry before night. The
leaves must be dry once a day to help prevent and kill fungi.

Over 25 years of orchid growing in horse manure I have not seen one
failure.
One lady friend of mine thinks that horse manure is too dirty to use
for orchid growing. She said that she could grow better ones without

her orchids
that it is actually made from horse manure. If so the success it
brings does not surprise me as I've used horsemanure for over 25 years
with great success. So have many others who use it properly.

Hello Des,
You have not yet tried using horsemanure as a growing medium otherwise
you would have found that after a week or so you can't smell it.
Your compatriat from the Orchid Society was concerned about "the haven
it would provide for mycorrhyzal pathogens in the tropics," If you

Hello Phil,
Good to hear that you were able to dodge the snow and the tornado.
The watering through the winter is to keep the strength of the
nutrients consistent. If the manure dries out it becomes stronger when
it is first watered again and can become too strong so that

Hello Davek,
I read in OGD 328 that you are promoting perlite and vermiculite as a
holding medium for soil-less orchid growing. Can you get the same
results with this method as you can with horse manure?
If you would like to see the horse manure results, you can see photos
of the flowers and the
