[OGD] AOS Membership Special

2008-01-29 Thread Geoff Frost
I’m trying to get the word out regarding the new AOS membership special and I can use your help. From now through March 31st, new members can join for $49.95/yr or $99.95 for two years. Current members may extend their membership at the $99.95/2 year rate. While the $5 rebate to the sponsoring s

Dear Friends, I, for one, am satisfied with my long-standing membership in the AOS, and I just signed up for another two years. I'm sorry that I'm becoming a minority, but I'm convinced the magazine is every bit as good as it was 28 years ago when I first joined. I know, because I still have

Refreshing to realize that even though in the minority there are others who agree. Yes the censorship is amazing. Their monitor must have been trained in the Bush White House. Absolutely nothing of a controversial or thought provoking nature gets by. It's all just ooh and aahs about your ne

I have to disagree with your statement, Andy, that "No-one with any orchid savvy wastes time with the AOS Forum ". I feel that I have some degree of "orchid savvy", and I spend a fair amount of time there, trying to bring some logical, scientific understanding of "what's really going on" to the

HALLELUJAH! Andy, L'il Frog and merv are on track. We aren't the only ones who decided that the AOS mag-rag "Orchids" is worthless to experienced growers! I began AOS membership in 1979. I ended it in 1991. I get FAR better information from my local orchid society newsletter at $20 per

Yes Merv and Li'l Frog, You are so right! No-one with any orchid savvy wastes time with the AOS Forum any more. When I spoke at an area orchid society recently and predicted many more closures of established orchid nurseries, I was taken to task by several of the members. I said it will contin

The decline and subsequent increase in AOS membership is not hockus pockus. If you talk to people in most societies, probably 80% that belong or have belonged to the AOS do so solely because of the AOS Bulletin/Orchids magazine. They see the membership as a freebie that comes with the subscription.
