Dear Suzanne. As I have comented in the link of the FB you mentioned (bellow), and Alan also re-inforced in a different thread, this was not an Australian OSonOS but a Worldwide OSonOS. The point is that the letter "W" had not yet joined the acronym to give WOSonOS.  A piece oh history then...

I don't think self organizing systems are goal seeking systems. By definition, goal seeking systems are homeostatic, and not emergent or transformational. I think self organizing systems are purpose seeking systems; hence, as Peggy says, always looking for new meanings to emerge in a dialectic
