There is an altitude widget you can configure from the Configure Screen menu. there are also contour maps that provide this information. If you are talking about selecting a specific point to get what is considered "extended information" you have the wrong program. There are many advantages

I have seen this feature in Locus. I think that altitude value visible in context menu would be very useful and also "not-so-difficult" to implement. OsmAnd gives precise informations about altitude, ascent, descent under route/navigation panel, so why not placing alti value in the context
