Unfortunately, using GPS is one of the most energy-demanding tasks in a
smartphone. Maybe you have some energy saving feature turned on?
You can also try installing some "GPS-helper" app, i.e one of these:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.fabrizioalberti.gpshelper
Most of the time I forget to turn GPX tracking on, but thanks for your reply

Records continue in the background so the gps signal should not be lost,
another history is how it impacts in battery draining...

I love Osmamd, but I have one big issue, if I let the screen turn off, the GPS
has to re aquire the sattelites, I am using the app on a LG stylo 2 (LG V82). I
would like to find out if there is a setting I can change to keep this from
happening, and see if I can save battery life? Any
