First of all: FreeText (and FreeTime) fields are deprecated in 3.1. The new
technology, "Dynamic Fields", is much more flexible.
One prominent example of the use o

I wouldn't do it 'quick and dirty', but rather by the book ...

Hi,
this is *exactly* what I just implemented for a customer of mine this week.
I did not find any way to implement the functionality with out-of-the-box OTRS
functions, so I wrote a PostMaster module that does, essentially, the
following:
1. Parse incoming mails from the 'upstream' ticket m

I had a similar issue also related to DNS, but not that obvious.
Some months ago, I reconfigured the whole internal network at one site to use
IPv6, including DNS. All internal servers have an IPv6 record () in DNS as
well as an IPv4

it isn't MS Outlook but Tobit's David FX, according to the headers. Even so,

Meanwhile it would be a good idea for some admin to take him off this list.

are you sure that you're not missing the pulldown menu on the left side, just
below the search box? You could click o
We are getting this SPAM because someone set his OTRS to process mails in the
account he receives this mailing list on. And now it opens a ticket for each
and every mail in this account and sends an auto-reply.
Since the last one was from October 2010, I expect that there are a couple of

Hi Allessandro,
thanks for your kind reply.
I did some research as well, and created a slightly different fix that will
also make it possible to add new queues:

Hi,
I am currently (among other things) evaluating the PostgreSQL backend for OTRS
(mainly because I don't really like MySQL, but also because of restrictions a
customer of mine makes with respect to the database engine - if something other
than PostgreSQL is required, there must be very good r
Hi,
I have been experiencing a pretty annoying problem with my OTRS 3.0.5
installation, which it seems I cannot really narrow down. I am currently
running OTRS on a CentOS 5.5 machine with MySQL 5.0.77, Perl 5.8.8, and apache

I'll be interested in any information about the problem - OTOH, in Centos 5.5,
mod_perl seems to be installed by default, and it it cenrtainly installed on my

I would have preferred it to be a little less interesting :-)

Hi,
I have a very annoying problem with OTRS and the SOAP::Lite interface.
I have an instance of OTRS running which I used SOAP to connect to, everything
works just fine. The base operating system is CentOS 5.5, OTRS version is 3.0.5
and SOAP::Lite is installed in version 0.710.10 (since 7.12
Hi Mike,
thanks for the pointer, I managed to write a module that does exactly what I
need. Actually this is even better than what I had in mind, since I can run the
entire interface the external systems within OTRS and even handle the
configuration into OTRS' SysConfig. Sleek!

Hi,
I am rather new to OTRS, and I'm faced with a challenge I could, so far, not
find any existing solution for (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place).
I want to integrate OTRS in an existing system and network monitoring
environment. Most, if not all, of the tickets will be generated au
