Our wiring spec is based on the 1WRJ45 standard that is posted on
www.1wire.org with the only difference being that we changed the voltage
allowed on pin 7 because our Barometer requires at least +14v so the
+12v in the standard wasn't enough. All of the other pins and voltages
are the same.
BTW I
Hello!
Actually David I believe your right. And as far as I am concerned with
wiring this business goes, I appreciate your advice. And will
endeavour to comply.
Since I do not even have the first node wired, it is a simple matter
to create a new run just for the 1Wire setup, and indeed use the

Hi
Let me add my two cents once again here about sharing 1-wire and other
protocols. The bottom line is don't. While it's possible in some cases
to get it to work you increase the chances of problems with your 1-wire
network. And the problems you see will be nearly impossible to
troubleshoot and

Kurt, thank you! I had completely forgotten about the good people at
Hobbyboards with regards to that aspect. Their idea for using the
blue-blue-white pair of the eight leaded wire group normally used for RJ45

Hello!
Just the ticket Paul. The site there contains both a link to the original
document, plus one they've worked out on their own.
For my part I should have the first node up by the end of this week. As to
which temp sensor to use, either a DS1822 or a DS18B20, and both of them in
parasitic mode

Hello!
First of all, Matt, thank you for bringing that gentleman's website to my
attention. Not only is he also a One-Wire technology enthusiast but his
website is easy to read and provides considerably more details then the
Leviton manuals and website that I normally use for wiring my connections.
You just have to watch running 1-Wire and anything else in the same
cable. The 1-Wire protocol can be very touchy, it was originally
designed for a 1-Wire slave to be a few inches away from the master not
many feet. That being said it can be done but there are so many factors
that it is hard to say

No idea Paul, you can download delphi source from that web site, maybe it is an
open source and you can use that code? I will make this adaptor on mondey and I
will let you know if it works with my DS1821 :)
Greg,
I have a cat5 run down my house and I've been thinking about running a 1wire
down the same cable.

Looks totally feasible, as long as you tease the connections out and around
any active network devices.

Ethernet (10-Base-T and 100-Base-T) uses only 4 of those 8 wires. You
can use the others for 1-wire, but it isn't easy. You'll have to break
out the extra pairs before they enter any boxes (computer or switch).
Crimp tool. I think the real time to do it is if you have a long
existing wire run, perh
Very nice.

Do you think the author would be interested in having this incorporated in OWFS?
