Chaps, it took 3 hours to defrag the guest C: drive, then I uninstalled and
reinstalled the VMWare tools and drivers, and I turned off the update
sharing (as Davy suggested) then rebooted. It seems a bit better, but still
too slow to work normally. I'll have to do more investigation -- *Greg*

Just regarding RAID0, you should check on the actual performance difference
with SSDs and RAID. I was going to do the same thing but found some tests
that indicated the improvement was only in specific tests. Under normal
use, there's no real benefit and it can even be slower. I ended
