Hi everyone,
I currently have a client whom I'll name Heide, who had planned a homebirth
for her first baby.

Re the Consumer issue.
A few thoughts: -
ACMI and the branches in each state, as a
professional organisation, could improve in many ways in looking after
midwives. I would like to get that right before we start looking after

Dear all
I'm trying to be quiet but...
I know that there is nothing about consumers in the ACMI or ICM

as full members of ACMI is that it is in the Constitution of the ICM that it
be a professional bodie, no consumers. Jill Thompson brought that up at a
General Meeting dicussion we had about the Constitution. ( We haven't
Dear Pete, the way to make anything happen is to participate in all levels
of governance. Did you respond to the call for a review of teh
Constitution? We had but one response in Tassie! I doubt if many midwives
have even read it, becuase the only way to get "consumers" (whatever they

The John Hunter team midwives have in place a consumer group, consisting of
"stakeholders" including consumers, a specialist obstetrician, and two GPs. The
group was to meet a couple of times a year, and were established only weeks before the
current crisis. To say that they have be invaluabl
Hello to all ozmidders, I would like to propose getting consumers onto ACMI
exec, I am interested in all views on this matter and if enough support ways
of making it happen, especially in view of AGM coming up in Hobart in
September. Look forward to reading your comments.
