Hi Kelly
One of my babies had a 'turned' foot at birth, physio involved massaging the
foot at each breastfeed and it was fine after a few weeks.

I agree with all of your points about the emails- don't get some, lose threads
of discussion, some of my postings don't go on etc.

I'm not sure about cytotec but it is always better to wait for nature to take
it's course etc.
I had one years ago and it all happened within a few days of my finding out
that it was a blighted ovum, no different to any other miscarriage really.

Paivi, These pregnancies generally terminate themselves anytime up to 12 weeks,
as hormone levels aren't conduicive to the pregnancy continuing. It depends on
the Drs as to whether they do a D&C afterwards. Most times there is no need.

Hi Phillipa,
People who formula feed babies must realise that the solute load of formula is
much heavier than breastmilk and takes 3-4hrs to digest as opposed to
breastmilk's 20mins or so. Formula fed babies also need to have water
separately as opposed to breastfed bubs.

Hi all
I am trying to get to the ACMI conference in
Sydney, Dec 1,2. Have any midwives who are going or who live in Sydney
found or could suggest any cheaper accomodation options around Double Bay
than the conference venue??

I was thinking the same thing, everyone must be
busy!!

No, Maleny-Sunshine Coast. But I think the story is
the same everywhere. It is the consumers we need to get moving because no one is
listening to the healthcare workers.
I am still stunned at how quickly things have moved
since our girls(consumers) got their teeth into the problem. They have
Hi Louise,
Just a comment about rural maternity services or lack of!!
I am a midwife in a rural facility and was hitting
my head against the wall trying to get birthing back to our town. We have a
Midwives clinic which wasn't well attended and lots of times couldn't bring
postnatals back bec
Tiff,
I thought UQ was introducing direct entry Midwifery
next year? A friend of mine has applied.

I agree Michelle, I too worked in a rural area
prior to completing my Mid many years ago and can still remember the revelations
I felt while learning Midwifery. As an RN non Midwife, I was quite
ignorant of what a true Midwife's role involved. It was scarey
stuff.

I agree with the fact that midwives would move to
rural areas if they could do only midwifery, however I think that if the
RN/Midwives in the rural areas were given the opportunity, support and
enthusiasm we would find that there are quite a few Midwives out there who have
not used there sk
It's scary stuff when people in those high
places (parliament)making those decisions are not aware of all the
facts.
However as a Nurse and Midwife from the bush I
don't think I have ever seen any nurse who is not a Midwife give
antenatal care to women.
Cheers
