We're working on trimming down what we crawl for our search (Sharepoint 2010,
non-FAST search.)
We've already excluded a bunch of files by targeting irrelevant parts of our
file system.
What else do you guys exclude when crawling file shares? Is it worthwhile
excluding executables for instance

I am working on SharePoint online project, client will be creating users
and they will be emailed login/password to login to the site.
He wants to have a report where he can see who are the users who have never
logged into the site, so that reminders can be sent.
How to get this informa
You should really look for the content you actually want to search, if it's
just txt, pdf & office documents, you should really look at the directory stats
and ignore all the file types on there, except the ones you actually need.
Aside from doing that, there isn't much else you can do.
