from a real R-09 user.

A $74 battery pack is about the same cost as 24 good non-rechargeable
batteries these days. After the first 48 hours of battery use, you'd
be at the break-even point. If you use your recorder for lots of
field work, then it wouldn't be a bad price at all. Of course,
cheaper's always better, but
If the files are all at the same bit and sampling rate, just use the Windows
command prompt. If they're in a logical order, then use the command copy/b
*.mp3 newfile.mp3 which will create one big file called newfile.mp3.
otherwise, use copy/b file1.mp3+file2.mp3+file3.mp3 newfile.mp3. Obviously

Hi Judy,
I have an R09. I am quite sure that the settings are retained if you remove
the batteries. I have had my batteries out now for a few days. I'll put
them back in and when my wife gets home later this morning, I'll have her
check the settings and I'll let you know. That is if you don't
Yes that's correct. Lossless means just that, there are no artefacts

Judy,
I wish I could answer your question, but at this time I can't for the simple
reason that I use all defaults, and the only thing that I really change and
not very often is the plug-in power, so it is difficult to know if anything
has changed or not. I typically record in .wav format at 44.1
