I'm going to give a gift certificate for some downloadable music to a
high school graduate. My preferred service for this purpose is
EMusic because of the reasonable price and unprotected
mp3's. However, they seem to cater more toward the 25-54

way, as are all our family actually, and Napster suits us very well. It
always contains all the latest chart music and just about anything you can

music is usually in wma/drm format although sometimes you can find things in
mp3 format.

If I want to record a phone call I use Sound Forge. I have the
Internet Phone Wizard. It allows me to connect my standard telephone to
the computer so that I can use the phone for Skype as well as regular phone
service. The Internet Phone Wizard shows up as another audio device in
Sound
As long as you don't switch files it will remember where you were.
