If I recall correctly, the Olympus 30/40/50 recorders have
automatic-gain-control, which means sudden, loud sounds (just like
thunder) would probably get distorted.
I believe the model 71 has the option for no AGC. I don't know about the
DS520 (or is it 540?)

Yes it will degrade. The question is, will you be able to hear the
difference. I should think this would depend on the original bitrate,

By noting the call begin/end time on the Status Bar (with a little help
from the Pause function) you could set these times in the View/Range

If the record is vinyl, you may use isopropyl alcohol to clean it.
Do *not use alcohol if it is a 78-RPM record - the alcohol will dissolve

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PLAY THE 78's ON A 33-1/3 TURNTABLE!
The Stylus is shaped differently for playing the two types of record;
the narrower needle for the 33-1/3 will very probably ruin the grooves
in the 78 record.
Also, NEVER use alcohol-based cleaner on a 78 disc.

Do a google search for duplic8
This is an excellent duplicate finder; the only crawback is that the
author apparently isn't around or supporting the program, so you can't
register it, even though it asks each time you exit.
