this is why an external synth is required, I also had issues with tthe two
sound cards.

That is the same sort of thing with my Soundmax. I really don't think you
can run dual cards with one of them being ac97.

Yes, I do this all the time. In fact I'm in the process of getting a new
sound card to disable my integrated one because it's throwing fits. But
