I looked these up on fileext.com and found them to be bookmarkable
M4A's. However, the M4A's I know about don't have video in them, but
the M4B's do. Is it safe to just change the extension to M4A and leave
them at that?

I do know you can turn mp4 files into mp3 files using Easy Cd
Extractor. It is very very easy to do this.

For m4a to mp3 conversion go to http://www.zamzar.com don't know if they
support m4b files though. HTH
