Can you set the SB Live to be the default sound card and get system sounds
from it? If no, you may need to disable some Creative utilities in
Msconfig. If you do get sound from the SB live you can get the internal
sound card to be the default and set Winamp to use the SB Live. You want to
Hi Bob
From what we can tell, no sound appears to be coming from it, even
when headphones or speakers are plugged into it, that's the root of
the problem. What is interesting about this whole thing is that when
her room mate hooks up her external card to the same computer, it
doesn't work
Chris
I happened to play with this card earlier in the week and posted on the
GwMicro support list. While I didn't purchase the card for purposes of
using it with a synthesizer, I wanted to experiemtnt
synthesizer, I wanted to test the concept. What I learned from the WE
support list that

Ok, so could you not say tell Winamp from the output plug-ins section to use
the external sound card directly and have Windows use the in-built speakers
of the laptop as a default sound card for system sounds? That way JAWS or
whatever should work just fine, giving sound through the in-built sound

Hi Bob
From what we can tell, no sound appears to be coming from
suspecting I might
be having a USB problem rather than a sound card problem and maybe you are
experiencing the same?

Ok, well a question from my point of view, did this person have any
particular need for a SB Live external card? I mean an Imic is a great
choice for an external

hi. She chose the SB live because it's what she wanted, I did bring
up the Imic to her but the SB live external is what she chose
Hi. Well, that's exactly what she wants to do, but as I said in my
original post, all atempts to get the external sound card seem to be
failing. It *does* show up in device manager, and Winamp does see
it. She set it up so that her speech would come from her internal
card on the laptop
HI Chris,
Which sb live external card is it? There are more than one.

Hi Doctor P,
if you want Winamp5.35, let me know, and I will put it up on Send Space
Hi. Wow, this really seems to be becoming a problem! I have an idea.
The next time that dialogue pops up, try hitting the key combination
alt n for no. in that dialogue there's a yes button, a no button and
a checkbox to determine wether or not it checks for updates.
I don't know if that'll do
Sounds to me that unless someone needs something specific 5.50 has to
offer, one is best leaving well enough alone and remaining with 5.35.
Good reason to maintain past versions of programs on hand just in case a
newer version causes more problems than benefits.
