I agree with Isaac. With my Coolpix 990, it eats up standard AA's quickly.
However, I purchased two sets of 1600mah NiH rechargeables and they last
quite a long time. I also use a 64 mb card with some compression and get

It is a relatively small view through the finder. I don't think it is much
different than most of the ZX line however. Most people end up going for
the ZX-5n because of multiple focus modes and AF if you desire it. It can

This sounds odd. The Z-1p definitely uses distance information as do all

Based on my experience, you quite correct. Three sets of rechargeables and lots of
extras put together a system that will do about 80 to 90 percent of what I can get
out of my screw mount equipment. When I travel, film is still a real handy way of

Hi Todd,
I think it`s reproduction ratio is 1:3. If you set the zoom at 35mm in
Macro
mode, it`ll close focus to around 1 foot from the film plane.

The disadvantages of the ZX-M is that it uses a Pentamirror instead of a
pentaprism. This is not as bright, so Pentax made the image smaller (.77x
magnification) to make up for this. Another disadvantage to the
pentamirror is that dust can get inside, but it's pretty easy to clean on
the ZX-M.

I think one off any of the M series cameras would work. If you have one that

It's got a "Marco" feature that probably goes down to about 1:4 or 1:5 (my
estimate), so it is capable of getting close. It is somewhat of a pain to
switch into and out of the Macro mode constantly if you are photographing
objects about 5 feet away though.

I actually like my ZX-M's finder. The finder "problem" is one of design.
Since a mirror set is used instead of a pentaprism, it's a bit smaller and
not quite as bright. The side help me as I wear glasses to shoot and

It almost sounds like a part just under the mount
of your regular body -- that plastic ring that
couples to your aperture ring. Might it be the
same? If so, my SF-10 "parts" body has it.

Listen all,
As some of you will know by now I have a considerable investment in M42
lenses, both Takumars and aftermarket types. Many of these lenses are
really excellent and fully as good as my Nikkors so I have absolutely no
desire to get rid of them. But the M42 bodies are getting a bit lon
