Hi everyone,
I've just joined the PDML. I've been reading it for a little while, but now
I decided to take the plunge. I live in Vancouver, BC, and I've only been
doing photography for just under a year. I'm also an avid mountaineer, rock

Hey, Bob ...
I checked out the multi print. It's not the one i thought it was. I

Shell,
A perfect partner for the negatrans is a 4-1 multiprint easel. I used to
do proofs from a roll using one, 4 prints per 8x10 sheet.

I've only seen pictures of that easel. Don't you have to move the easel

I like making larger proof prints though. 5x7 is about as small as I'd
care to make, although the full-frame on an 8x10 is more satisfactory.

Lots of people have emailed 'em to me (unknowingly) but they pose no threat if

See this month's MacWorld for a review of current Epson and Canon
printers in letter size. The Epsons were a bit slower and they noted
that the ink system was a bit less accommodating, but they rated them
far better overall for picture quality. To me, that's the only thing
that matters.

The lenses all have a manual/auto switch that lets you stop down the
aperture. This gives you a DOF preview.

If memory serves me correct, there are 2 different Ni-Cads available. The
difference is the max current capability (hence difference in internal
resistance). The ones with the higher current rating will mean shorter
re-cycle times.

I have the 500 Centon, and its pretty soft even without a convertor.
With 2* or 3*, not only would you never be able to focus accurately, but
the image would be poor anyway.

Hi,
the classic explanation is that you use them when wearing ski gogggles
or similar. The long eye relief means you can still see the full
frame. I found mine most useful when I was shooting wildlife in South
Africa with long lenses on a tripod. It was very convenient to twist
the finder upright

Hi Jan - you will pleased to know that there IS a manual stop down on each

It is past the aperature ring on the top right quarter of the lens, as you
look in the viewfinder.
It is usually set to Automatic (which keeps the viewfinder bright with the

Save your money. This lens and lenses like it are absolute crap. How can it
cost only $300 when a 600/4 Pentax goes for $6000?
The MAXIMUM aperture at 1300mm is F16. Get your longest non-reflex lens.
Set it to F16, stop it down (if you have DOF preview on your camera) and try

Yeah. Try focusing on something at any distance with a lens that has a
MAXIMUM aperture of F16..
BTW Nikon makes/made this one:
