My first problem. I hit the screw heads holding the lens mount on with
a soldering Iron each for about 3 minutes. Two screws came out nice as

Not an option unfortunately. The brush was ruined before I opened the
lens. As it appears to be made out of unobtainium, that will stop most
repair shops right there. I can probably manufacture a brush out of a
stiff wire, (the Nichrome wire used for old Estes rocket igniters seems

Hardly worth the cost of repair. I'll take it off your hands if you
pay half the postage ;)

Last lens I had repaired around here cost me $135.00, for a much simpler
job. Labor isn't cheep in New England. Since that's more than I paid
for the lens and buying a new use one looks like it would run me about

I tried to disassemble a fungus infected F35-70 for fun. I couldn't
find JIS screwdrivers, instead I used PH000 and PH00 drivers from an

The screws on my F35-70 didn't need heating. I did notice some screws

Given how deep the problem appears to be, maybe the $75 or so
to have a shop repair it could save the possible headache of
potentially doing it wrong.
