Well, that kind of mod writes the K adapter off indeed. The sales pitch wouldn't suggest any modification to the lens. Currently I own two M42 lenses - a Pentacon 55/1.8 and SMC Takumar 135/2.5. Purchasing one of those adapters for just one lens (the 500n came with an EF 50mm and EF 28~80mm)
