Very nice! I think the first image is particularly effective, with
its feeling on tranquility.

Thanks for looking Rick, and thanks for your comments.
Actually, that is not brick, but wood. In any event, it is
unattractive, and I may try to crop or clone it out.

One of those (with Asahi rather than Honeywell branding, and the f/1.4
instead of the f/1.8) was my first SLR a little over 40 years ago.

Returning to the Si design brief, looks like the folks at Sigma are
channeling the same camera spirit. The new DP2 Merrill looks like a
production version of the Si in several ways. But of course, like any
production camera almost has to, it has more controls on its surface

And spotted Salvation Army $24.99 for it.
With ever-ready, cap, and polarizer.
Only issues are a little corrosion at the shoe base (not shown)
and a very worn battery cover.

I was asked if I could take photos of a friend's band playing a street fair
last night (Murphy Ave in Sunnyvale).
During the last song, I noticed something far more interesting than the half
dozen middle aged guys up on stage.

As an aside, the specific request was photos showing the band playing to a
large crowd. I was particularly encouraged to shoot from the stage, looking
out over the crowd. As it got dark, and the band had stage lights on them, and
the crowd didn't, I came up with an interesting solution. I ma

John, I like them both. Years ago I was photographing one of them
with a LX and a 50 mm A.2.8 Macro that I had just bought brand new,
Then all of a sudden he jumped right up on the camera, I did not
expect it and I dropped the camera to the ground and the lens took

That's an easy one, Larry. Just aim your flash upward and use the moon
as a big reflector. You'll also get great catchlights in the audience
member's eyes. (This wouldn't have been possible before the K-5.)
Some excellent shots in there, Larry. I'm sure they'll be very pleased
with these.

I was just about to post this when Tim expressed his weariness with

post this picture from today. I'm a bit impish, you see.

That would never work. It takes light 2.5 seconds to get to the moon and back,
and the time delay would make shutter lag a huge problem. Not only tha
