I thought, I might have tried to move the cable out of the composition
if it were mine.
Then, I realized that my "better" composition might look somehow
sterile compared to yours.
That cable adds a sense of reality.
Still too much to learn!

Rick, the unsharp part of the flower is due, in part, to lack of a tripod.

It is, to be certain, an archaic use of the term confusion and today we
might better say convergence.
They use it to describe the out-of-focus area when it's actually the
in-focus area, the point where the light from the lens converges.
