Up until now I have been using and getting good service from a Drobo multi disc raid like (but not really raid) hard drive enclosure. I would like to add a second storage device as the Drobo is getting a bit old. They appear to be not making machines and haven’t for some time, so the dumb question

1 Acre is quite a lot of ground. Mine is about that too & I find it quite a handful! The problem with untended areas is the proliferation of weed seeds - you must have problems with that! I have virtually had to give up on major weed control in my garden because it is just too time consuming.
