By friday last I had received both the battery pack that I had bartered
for with Andre and the Ni-Cd batteries that I had ordered from DigiKey.
Armed with Rob Studdert's instructions I tore into the battery pack and
found things pretty much as described except:

I repaired a motordrive with this exact problem!

The 1/3 AA's are a little smaller than the 1/3A's but they are rated
at 110 mAh consistent with the original batteries and ni-cd batteries
don't mind delivering a lot of current. We'll see how they do in the long
run but for now things seem to work fine.

Okay, I've been watching this thread on batteries for a while and I do
have some comments/questions.
i) We use ni-cad batteries in a particularly nasty industrial application
(underwater instrumentation) and we found that the panasonic ni-cads are
real survivors. If I was looking to replace
I will have something like 24 hours in London in the middle of June. Can
anyone suggest a good shop where I can touch and feel some cameras?

that the digital sensor is half the size of a 35 mm frame and so everthing
is half sized in the view finder. If we could get a full framed digital
sensor that fit onto the back of a 35 mm camera it seems to me that we
could have the best of both worlds.

Now that I have brought my discovered motor-drive back from the dead I'm
looking for applications and accessories. It seems to me that it would be
very useful to have the cord that allowed me to plug power directly into
the motor-drive instead of using the battery-pack grip.
Does anyone know
. Is this unit an essential component
of the bulk back?
Many thanks, Len Zedel.

they are just alignment points. (I can't see any evidence of a head even
when scraping off the corrosion). Can anyone tell me whether these
are screws or alignment pins?
iii) Has anyone taken one of these motor drives apart? I'd love some
information before I put this into surgery.
Thanks, Len
