I used to use a technique of stepped up resolution in smallish
increments of 10% per iteration using bi-cubic sharpening on good well
exposed *ist-D images. Then place a layer containing an actual scan of
film grain on top to add some false detail. With the right subject, and
a good well
Automatically upgrade a *1stD 6Mp to K3 24Mp capabillty. K1 to 144Mp!

Camera raw now has a feature called "enhance", which uses artificial
intelligence to increase the resolution of files.
I just tried it on a couple of old *istD files, and it seems to work
very well indeed, it turned my 6mp
