I know it is a consumer zoom but it is still very welcome IMO. IST-D(s) are affordable DSLRs and such zooms are logical steps in the right direction. Now, D-FA 50mm and brighter zooms are definitely needed. Thibouille

well, i can see it being priced around $400, mostly because it has ED elements. at that price, i think it ought to be pretty good and reasonably light weight. Herb, I hope you are right. If that is its price point I will probably buy it. If it is priced about $200 or so, designed to compete
