Thanks Rick.
I have a friend who bought into adjustable ND. He’s quite passionate about
long exposure photography (he’s dragged me kicking and screaming into it!). I
get the impression that he is disappointed with it for the same reasons you
state.

Excellent photo, Paul! I'm looking forward to seeing more!
I bought an adjustable (1-8 stop) Tiffin ND filter about a year ago.
It turns out that the waves on the New Hampshire lake we visited
aren't large enough, and the usable range of the filter isn't wide
enough to create that blur effect. The
Excellent mood and lighting, the long shutter effect is great.

You're always so helpful, buddy. ;-)
I can use step-up rings for the M lenses (they're usually about 43mm filter
users) but using step-down rings for the R and SL lenses generally will cause
vignetting.
I'll have to hunt the filters up and see what I have. I think I need mostly 55
and 60mm th
lter size ND for my kit.

Step-down (up?
That's the way I went after purchasing the largest filter size ND for my
kit.

Thanks, Godfrey!
Step-down (up? I suppose it depends which side you’re looking at..) rings are
your friends!
Or you could send your rejects to me….

Very very nice, Paul!
Hmm. I have at least one eight stop, a six stop, and a few two and four stop
NDs floating around here somewhere. I wonder where they are and what sizes...?
As chance would have it, I bet none of them fit my current lenses. :-/

Thanks, Ken.
It’s a screw-in Hoya. I have Cokin drop-in filters, but find the colour shift
disappointing and quite annoying.

Well done Paul, nice subject, composition & exposure.
What kind of ND filter is it - screw on or drop in?
