Pentax SMC FA 28-70 f/4. Has a small scratch on the front element (3mm
long, width of a hair). Hard to say what this one is worth because of
the scratch, so make me an offer.
Wasn't somebody around here looking for a donor *rear* element for one
I have had this lens for quite a while, bought used, and love it. I use it
as mynormal lens. All of a sudden in the space of a few days it fogged up
on me. I don't know how or whether it is moisture, fungus or something
else. Any advice on whether it is salvageable and if so how expensive
I am new to the list and I also have the same problem with the same lens.
I have had mine on a ZX-5n body for almost four years with no trouble
whatsoever and then all of a sudden it becomes a soft focus model. I
recently had a local camera repairman look at it and he did not think it

I remember reading a rumor (based on fact??) that Pentax originally
designed it to be a f/2.8-4 zoom but that performance was unacceptable
at 2.8 at the wide end. I have this lens, and indeed, I find it weaker
(but still good) wide than normal or long. Anyway, it sounds plausible.

For anyone who has seen it live or in photos, what is the styling? Is it
another black plastic type or a limited aluminum finish?
More like the style of the 20-35 FA. Molded hood, black plastic construction
and internal focus/aspherical element, by reports. I don't have the Russian
