I run a small mailing list through Google Groups which does allow attachments.
Every so often someone will send a photo then everyone who replies to it tends
to include another copy of the original attachment (I think this behaviour
varies depending on software / settings). The data can add up

I'm perfectly fine with any arrangement. If we go HTML, I'll be able to get
rid of special mailer that I have on my cell phone, because GMail default
client on android cannot send plain text.
Otherwise, my life won't change either way :-).

Looking into it in more depth reveals that allowing HTML through Mailman
