Given that G lenses were actually requested by fumbling pjs, I feel sure that
this is the thin end of the wedge. It's in my bones.

Not so. Part of the reason for release of G lenses was in response to
requests from certain pro photogs, apparently. True some G lenses are
enthusiast

They're probably showing it with the J lenses because they are the
newest products. In the U.S. at least, only

Maybe not. But we've got a lot of mech-weenies here. If you're out
shooting a party
where you want and need AF, then it probably wouldn't matter. These lenses
are
obviously not for technical work. They're for just shooting -- production
work.
