I can't give the technical answer that others here can, but... it's's supposed
to be the most reliable way to delete all of one's photos and avoid corruption
that could result in lost photos in the future.
Delete all is an alternative that doesn't rewrite the card's directory. In

Pentax is just protecting you from yourself, you wouldn't want to
accidentally delete all your files, now would you?

Does anyone know a way to format the memory card in a K7 with fewer than 16

Does anyone know who the bozo was who made formatting take 3 times as many
button pushes as getting to the custom focus adjustment?
There are things about the K10 I miss...
Rick
The K20d takes 8, the *ist-Ds takes 7 the D takes 3. For fast
formatting use the *ist-D, I'm willing to trade.

I just spin the rear wheel to get over to page 4 of tab 3 quicker. I miss how
quick it was with the K10D. But I think that is the ONLY thing I miss

It's easier if you use the control wheel for navigating the menus.

The rear wheel was a good suggestion for me, though I will say that
I've been using the left arrow for 7 clicks, then one 'up' click to
get to format, as it seemed the short way round.
Leads me to believe using the wheel in the opposite direction would
get you there faster by a skosh. Then
