You can download Neat Image profiles for the DS.
All ISO settings and three noise filter settings. Quite useful when ther
h any sharpened pictures -- this is not so important I
suppose. For unknown reasons JAlbum introduces terrible 'film grainy'
looking noise if any of the pictures included have been sharpened (I use
a little unsharp masking sometimes). Neat image cleans this up
immediately after auto

Don, Noise Ninja produces custom profiles for different cameras, at
different ISO levels, which I though sensible. I don't know how it
compares to most others, except that it does soften less than Digital GEM.
I don't know how long it will take the Noise Ninja producers to come out
with a profi

I'm contemplating getting the Pro version of one of these programs and
would like to hear user's opinions. I've used the free version of Neat
Image and it works pretty, well but will only save images as JPEG files.
I know nothing about Noise Ninja.

OK, I guess I wasn't paying attention when that thread was being discussed and now
that I want to find it, it's nowhere to be found on the archive.
Anyway, what size of print was ultimately decided? I want to create up to a 6x9 print
and need to know if I can use a 3MP or if I need to go up t

Bwa, I found the free version of neat image can only save jpg files, and not
at a very high quality that - after using neat image on my pictures I had no
noise anymore, but compression artefacts instead :(
I'll try Helicon next...

nd a great, free soft: Neat Image.
If you didn't tryed it, give it a chance. It's very
good, you can build your own noise profiles and
control the full process. Try it!

Neat Image can't work miracles (particularly in the case of 3200ISO shadow
noise) however it does quite a good job when used with custom noise profiles.
At the link below are a copy of my current custom noise profiles for the *ist
D, they aren't perfect but they seem to get the job d
r, or, most of
the time, close without saving.

Nice Bill.
Question. The after picture looks slightly softer then the before picture.
Have you tried adding a little unsharp mask after using NI? If so does it
cancel the noise reduction?

Well, that's sort of what it does. Noise obscures what's there, NI
sort of smooth things out.
I tested it for a littl
