Thanks for your comments, Aahz, Jack and Bob. The shutter speed was
1/320, and the aperture f7. Because when never knows where the whale
will rise, a bit of DoF is needed, but the speed has to be enough to
stop blur from moving the camera quickly and from the motion of the
whale.

Very nice, Dan. I was in Maui once and was lucky enough to see a very
similar scene while just glancing toward the ocean, but I didn't have
my camera in my hand and by the the time I got it the show was over.
