My #1 tube has no spring either. It looks like it couldn't have one
by design. #2 and #3 have springs and they look like they are in the
same basic place. Look at your #3 and see how it looks. #2 looks the
same.

I recently bought a set of 6x7 extension tubes. Soon after I
discovered what I thought to be a bit of a problem; the stop-down
coupling on the #1 tube doesn't spring back into place when you move
it with your finger. Is this normal? I actually opened it up
