Indeed AFAIR the DS/DL/K100 only have the normal program preset.
D users (as Z1(p) and probably MZ-S) can choose for MTF, speed, depth
or normal and set by custom fuction.

It's always been a question mark to me whether the MTF line was used
in any of the DS' Program or Program-presets. Not that I use any of
the Program modes much anyway ... I think my camera has been used
only on Av and M modes this entire trip so far.

Would you know what the MTF data favour for that lens?

Any experience with this lens? A good one?
I'm planning to buy the DA* 16-50/2.8 lens for the K10D in due course.
However, I need something wider as well and Pentax doesn't offer a prime
lens that is wider than 16mm except for the 14/2.8 which is too close to the
16mm to make much sense. Hence,

Here's a shot with the 12-24 at 12mm on the *istD. No perspective correction.
The only PhotoShop adjustment was a curves adjustment to darken the sky.

The DA 12-24 is quite excellent. I've used it for a wide variety of shots and
have been impressed with its corner sharpness and minimal barrel distortion.

I can't say for sure if the DA 14/2.8 is sharper than the DA 12-24,
although I expect it would be, at least at f4. However, based on
images I've seen, I think the DA 12-24 is better corrected. It seems
to have a bit less barrel distortion. But again, that's based on
inconclusive evidence.
You're quite right in that I haven't seen any direct comparisons on
the same subject matter between the two lenses. But looking at the
pictures you've showed and comparing them with my DA14 examples (and
others), I see less rectilinear distortion in the DA14.
Here's my oft-posted page of
Nice pics, but hard to compare distortion based on these and my pics.
Perhaps I'll make it out there some day, and we can get together and
shoot a brick wall:-)

I agree. Come on out when next I hang a show and we'll spend quality
