Hi Dave My knowledge of these things is limited but the first thing I would do is open the case and make sure the video card is seated firmly in its slot. Others will probably have better advice but, if all else fails you can retrieve your un-backed up stuff by getting hold of one of the Linux

Thanks all for the replies. I finally got it going about 2 hours later. Not sure if this was the fix, but i finally cut all power to it, left it like that for 10 minutes, then plugged it all back in. Then it was fine. Also i had removed the internet cable for use of the mac. Maybe that was causi

Ok, so again today, the PC did it again. It worked fine for the first two times, then the third hung up on startup. Just made it to the intel splash screen. I turned it off, disconneted the power, waited and tried it again. Still no go. I turned it off, then when i got the dos start message hit f8.

Looks like a hard drive failure happening in slow motion. However before replacing the hard drive, replace the cables. They can go bad at any time. (It's the easiest and cheapest thing to try first). Do it soon as bad cables can screw up your OS installation, damage data and make you wish t
