I remember my dad telling us kids 'DONT FEED THE SQUIRRELS'. One day, as a grandpa, he showed up with a deep cut in the pad of his index finger. I asked about it and my mom eventually told me. He was feeding a squirrel on the kitchen window ledge by hand. It was a simple swipe with a claw.
