Very good indeed. A wonderful portrait of a man at work.

Ah, yes. "Steady Stenquist" we called him, before the days of image
stabilization.
(He probably doesn't drink. Not worth it.)

Thanks Derby. It was fascinating to watch. He had such superb hand control it
made me wonder if he followed a special diet to enable better muscle control
and less twitch. As a photographer who likes to defy the limits of handheld
shake, it made me jealous.

A lovely environmental portrait. His hands just give that impression of
precision.

Hi Ken,
Ford held a media intro for the new Lincoln design center Thursday and allowed
cameras. The post-MKZ models were covered or transported to some other
location. Nothing new beyond MKZ was shown, but it was an interesting
presentation.
Best,

Nice shot Paul. I suspect you're writing an article on the new MKZ, else
you'd have had a problem getting the camera into the design center.

John Allen an automotive sculptor tweak
I like that: hand tweak the clay then digitize and update the 3D
model. I've definitely felt that recent all-virtual designs fell short
of great hand-crafted designs of the past, and apparently I wasn't
alone in that.
Great article and accompanying shots, Paul.

Hi Bruce,
Some carmakers went to pure digital design, engineering build and prototyping a
decade ago. Some, like Ford, eventually came to realize that something was
missing she machines took charge.. Lincoln's clay models are roughed out by
CNC machines but they're finished and tweaked by hand
Great portrait of a craftsman at work.
I'm surprised they don't use robotic tools driven from 3D CAD systems
to do this. Don't they do all body design in workstations now?

That's a nice portrait Paul, and a pretty amazing process.
