Can someone tell me if there's a trick to using the self-timer
on the Super Program?
I've followed the instructions in the manual but it seems to
trip the shutter immediately.

It could be because the contact under the self-timer switch is dirty. This
is not uncommon. Mine had this problem be

I sure hope that's the case. My self timer ceased functioning many years ago
on my Super Program of nearly 18 years vintage. I also had the film counter
