Bipin gave an interesting idea.
I had one experience with KEH repairing SDM.
I had one used SDM lens purchased in early 2014 from KEH, and the SDM AF
failed right away. I sent the lens back to KEH and they repaired it within
a week or two. I don't know what they actually did with it.

I have had some lenses repaired from them, though not SDM related.
