winder MX problem

2004-02-12 Thread edwin
I had a motor drive MX that sometimes slipped on ONE of my MXen. I never figured out why--I just put the drive on the other MX. Clearly the camera was the issue. When my Super Programs got motor-drive-death, the symptom was that they would stop winding towards the end of the roll and the light

FWIW, With winder # 1321682 if the winder is ON, pressing the winder trigger will turn the metering on (and shoot a frame if you press hard enough) regardless of whether or not the camera is turned on. I tried this on five different MXs and they all worked the same way. The MX

Well my winder works like Lon said. Serial No. 129. Like the cameras themselves I think the newer winders have a lower serial number range than the earlier one. Peter Alling wrote: I have three of MX's all early versions with the metal film reminder frame. There must a difference in the

My winder has a sticker on the left side (opposite the grip) on the surface that mates with the camera. It says: Asahi Pentax Winder MX 1332568 Japan I'm glad GreyWolf corroborated my experience. Newer winder, or older one? -Lon Peter Alling wrote: I have three of MX's all early versions

Hmmm... my winder was purchased from a shop specializing in repairs, and was used by the guy who owned it. Maybe he made mods to the winder. My winder will not activate the meter if the winder itself is off. Peter Alling wrote: That's not how the manual says it should work, or for that matter the

I think there was some production changs along the way. Early winders and cameras exhibited the mentioned behavior. Later ones did not. With the winder shut off nothing lights when the button is pressed on the later winders. I seem to recall that was not so on the earlier ones. My current MX

No, Lon, yours has not been modified. I believe there were unannouced changes made over the years of production. Pentax has done that often in the past. This is one of those things where one can only talk about my winder, and not 'the winders (grin). Lon Williamson wrote: Hmmm... my winder

I have three of MX's all early versions with the metal film reminder frame. There must a difference in the winders. The documentation I have shows that the winders always turn on the meter weather the winder is on or not. Both winders I own exhibit this behavior. You wouldn't happen to know
